What We Like
Sure, we love tone - harmonic distortion from a slightly overdriven vacuum tube just as it begins to break-up. We love harmonies, good pitch, minor chord progressions, the angelic voice of Alison Krauss, and a walking bass line locked in with a really tight kick drum sitting on top of the beat. We love the way good ribbon mics sound in front of an amp cab, and what a nice compressor can do on the mix buss. We love the warmth created when the signal is re-amped through an analog summing mixer. We love the sustain of a Les Paul, the quack of a Strat in pickup positions 2 and 4, and the spank of a Tele. We love the tasteful use of dotted eighth notes, the percussive effects of a mandolin in the right places, and zero 60 Hz hum. We love the difference good AD/DA converters make, and the variety of tonal colors we can get from good preamps without having to worry about any mud when the tracks are stacked.
But we mostly love our wives, our children, our families, our friends, our church community, and our daily walk with Christ. Everyday we experience His grace.
